Erika Gonçalves immigrated with her family from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and grew up working in the family’s Brazilian restaurant. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Latin American Studies from the University of San Francisco with cum laude honors, and then earned her law degree from U.C. Hastings College of Law.
Having experienced firsthand the challenges and complexities of the U.S. Immigration system, Erika is passionate about advocating for the rights of immigrants. In addition to representing countless immigrants at the Law Office of Robert L. Lewis, Erika also volunteered for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area and Centro Legal de La Raza’s immigration clinic.
Erika is fluent in English, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. She represents clients from Brazil, Mexico and many other countries, in asylum, removal defense and naturalization. Like other lawyers in the firm, she has represented hundreds of clients in obtaining lawful immigration status under the “U Visa Program,” which provides benefits for persons who have been victims of violent crimes such as assault, armed robbery, rape, and domestic violence.
