Ricardo Aguayo

Ricardo has been awarded certification by the State Bar of California as a specialist in immigration law. He also has significant experience as a criminal defense attorney.

He was born in Mexico but raised in California’s Central Valley where his family worked as migrant field workers. A true immigrant success story, Ricardo excelled academically and ultimately earned his Law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

Ricardo worked as a Public Defender for Marin County and as a private criminal defense attorney prior to joining the Immigrant Defense Group at the Law Office of Robert L. Lewis. As an immigration lawyer, Ricardo represents our clients who come to the attention of ICE after an arrest by police. His priority is to get clients out of jail and back home to their families, and then to defend them in immigration court to avoid deportation. Ricardo represents hundreds of immigrants in obtaining lawful immigration status under the “U Visa Program,” which provides benefits for persons who have been victims of violent crimes such as assault, armed robbery, rape, and domestic violence.

Before studying law, Ricardo double-majored in Sociology and Chicana/o Studies at UCLA. He served in various programs assisting low-income students to prepare for college. He is admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of California and is a member of the American immigration Lawyers Association.
